Christmas Project 2007
Even if there is some time until Christmas we announce this year’s Christmas project already.
Emma loves art and other countries.
This year we want to send her a folder containing your drawings.
The motive of your drawing should be something from your home country.
You can draw some sights of course, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be something famous. If you live on the countryside you might draw a beautiful landscape or just some nice place in your village, if you are from a city you can draw an impressing building for instance. But sights, landscapes and buildings aren’t the only possibilities, you can draw other objects as well as long as they establish a relationship to your home country. So a German could draw a classic Mercedes Taxi or another “typical German” object for example.
Whatever you draw, make sure you like your motive yourself! This project shall give you the opportunity to show Emma some aspect of your home which you personally like!
It’s your choice what you use to draw as well – you can use an ordinary pencil, india ink or whatever you want. Naturally you can use colours as well (but whatever you use, make sure your drawing won’t lose colour!).
Also make sure your paper size isn’t more that 29 cm*21 cm. (11.4 in * 8.3 in).
Your picture should contain your personal signature and a title (but it must not contain text which is addressed to Emma (so if your motive contains text you can include it of course).
Some of you might ask why to draw a picture while making a photo would be that easy:
The reason is that we want to send Emma art. There’s neither art in simply photographing nor is it art just to copy something!
It would too long to give an explanation on art now, you just need to know that art is always the result of expression. In other words, if you draw something you give your picture a personal touch.
Unfortunately we won’t be able to send all of your drawings very likely, so there will be a selection.
Here goes the selection criterion:
– ) Quality: This is the most important point! The more laborious and beautiful your drawings are, the bigger the chance they are selected to be send. Scribble won’t be sent, it is our Christmas present for Emma and we only will send serious pictures and nothing that has been drawn in the lunch brake.
– ) Imaginativeness: Be creative when choosing a motive. If we get 200 pictures showing the Eiffel Tower not more than one of them will be selected. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t draw sights, it’s just that there is so much more you can show from your homecountry.
– ) Origin: If we get 3000 sendings from Germany and only one from Russia, this one drawing – as long as the quality is ok as well – has pretty good chances to be sent.
Well, you don’t have influence on the last criterion, therefore please make sure the quality is ok, that way your picture will have best chances.
The reason why we announce this project more than 3 months before Christmas is to make sure you have enough time to find a good motive and to make a really great drawing. Be creative and don’t forget – it is requested to draw something that shows an aspect of your home country which you personally like.
Facts as the accurate number of pictures which we’ll send as well as the entry deadline will be given to you as soon as they are fixed.
Have fun with drawing!
