The Headington School

[ Home | Dragon School | Headington School ]

The Headington School lies in Oxford, Emma’s Home Town. It is a Boarding School only for girls.

Here the pupils have the possibility to get the best results possible in their examinations and in the many outer school activities of the school which are offered. What Emma would be very happy about is the huge selection of sports there. There are several big sport courts which belong to the school. The 650 female pupils aged between 11 and 18 tell us that the Headington School is in fact a good school with a nice learn atmosphere. To be taken up you should be between 11 and 13, of course female and you have to go through and pass a general take up test. Then you are guided through the school by a girl of the 6th class. That girl is chosen by chance and doesn’t have special knowledge of guiding to be sure that the school is shown naturally and simple.

The girls can choose between the following subjects: English, Science, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography, German, Greek, Latin, Communication Technology, History, Religious Studies, Home Economics, English Literature, Art and Design, Classical Civilization, Music, Drama, Spanish, and Sports.

One of the Headington principle is that everyone finds the right journey for himself. The religion, the colour and all other things don’t matter. The sport selection is, as the curriculum, very extensively. Sports are offered, like Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Trampolining, Athletics, Ice Skating, Swimming, Riding, Modern Educational Gymnastics, Rowing, Dance, Squash, Judo, Badminton, Fencing, Basketball, Volleyball and Sub Aqua.

The "Headington School" has an own theatre. It was opened by the Bestseller authoress Joanna Trollope. In the meantime it became an important performance place for many kinds of literature. There are shown both theatre plays and concerts. In addition big groups discuss there and the theatre is also used for Roman lectures and for lots of workshops.

For Emma, that school would be a good decision because she lives very near to it; and she would have the possibility to do a lot of sport and to join the drama club.

And Emma is – as we know for sure – at Headingtons Dance Team. They’ve one the first place in regional (Oxfordshire) and the second place at Rock Challenge for the whole UK. Congrats!
