She’s no longer the know-it-all from Harry Potter, Emma Watson has, with her fifteen years, become a real babe! Only to score a date, she thinks that’s still very difficult…
What will happen to your character Hermione in this fourth Harry Potter movie?
Emma: She will get a boyfriend and Harry and Ron are very shocked about that. Especially Ron who has never realised that Hermione is a girl, and he finds it difficult that all of the sudden she has the attention of another boy. And this boy, who she’s going to the ball with, is his big hero, so that’s extra frustrating.
You have to take dance lessons for the ball scenes, how was it?
Emma: Very funny, because the boys were terrible at it. This is the first Harry Potter movie where boys and girls get interested in each other and that often leads to embarrassing situations and you can see that in the Yule Ball scenes. All the girls were very enthusiastic to learn all the steps, while the boys were thinking like; you are not getting me on that dance floor!.
And what about you? Did you find the dancing difficult?
Emma: Yes, it was quite a disappointment. I actually had to do a very complex waltz, but to my big relieve they made it a lot easier at the end. The director wanted our dance moves to look a bit clumsy, well we didn’t have to act very hard for that. *laughs*
Is it easy for you to get a date now that you’re famous?
Emma: Well no, I still find it very difficult. I am still just a normal teenage girl who doesn’t really know how to talk to boys. I don’t think it’s any different if when you’re famous or not.
But you do have a boyfriend?
Emma: I absolutely haven’t got any time for that! I’m filming eleven moths a year, and when I got a few days off, I want to see my friends and family. And I also have to do some homework.
But you can get a cute boyfriend on set, Daniel for example…
Emma: Oh no, Dan and I are just friends. There were some rumours that we were dating, we laughed about that a lot. They write such weird things. In the beginning I read every single word and got annoyed about it. But lately I found out that there’s just one way to handle those lies: laugh about it!
